You do not have to leave Basildon for a varied day out. The town combines post-war heritage, large green spaces, sport, shopping and modern leisure facilities.
Gloucester Park
Walk, relax or spend time outdoors in the major park immediately beside Basildon town centre. It is also a useful starting point for combining green space with the town centre.
Basildon Sporting Village
Beside Gloucester Park, the Sporting Village is one of the town's major modern leisure facilities, with swimming and a wide range of sporting activities.
Basildon Town Centre Heritage
Look beyond the shops and explore the New Town architecture, public art and planned pedestrian spaces. Basildon's post-war centre was designed as a complete modern civic and shopping environment.
Eastgate Shopping Centre
Eastgate remains a major indoor shopping destination and can easily be combined with a walk through the older open-air parts of the town centre.
